about me

Diligent people in this day and age like to know the provenance of their news and analysis.

I'm Paul Nathan, a American software engineer in Seattle. I have a Master's in Computer Science. I was homeschooled k-12 and took a very serious interest in history; I've transitioned that into applying that awareness into current events, along with accumulating an obnoxiously large stack of books to read, and a huge library in my apartment.

I'm a private citizen; my political biases are towards free speech, freedom of religion, accountability, ethics, knowledge, deliberation, expertise, and lack of dogmaticism. In short, the classic virtues of a Western Liberal Democracy. A careful examination of my online history will show I prefer the Democratic Party at this point in time; I wouldn't read too much into that.

As a software engineer, I am highly fluent in the nature of the internet as it reports on and affects current events and can curate useful nuggets from a wide variety of unusual news feeds, using my university education in discerning between self-appointed experts and actual experts who have meaningful contributions. I am not an expert. I'm just trying to find out what's going on and curate & annotate it for those with less ability to find out.

Other aspects of my life are private.
